The Inception of Healing Circle is

A testament to the power of shared experiences and the transformative potential of connecting to a greater purpose.

In 2019, our Founder, Ramya Tulasi, then a master’s student at Madras University, experienced a profound loss when a close friend succumbed to suicide. This unfortunate tragic event illuminated the critical need for more comprehensive mental health resources, particularly those often overlooked aspects such as social connections, creativity, and overall lifestyle balance.

An Unexpected Turn

Life took an unexpected turn when Ramya relocated to the United States to further her studies. Here, she met her new roommate and coursemate Swetha Maadugula, who further became an integral part of her life and the future of Healing Circle. Swetha is driven by her personal experiences with mental health advocacy and shares Ramya’s passion for creating meaningful change in this crucial field.

What began as a typical roommate relationship quickly evolved into a deep friendship and a powerful partnership. Ramya and Swetha discovered their shared vision for mental health support and their complementary skills. Late-night chai conversations in their shared living space transformed into brainstorming sessions for what would eventually become Healing Circle. Recognizing the strength of their combined experiences, mutual trust, and aligned mission, Ramya and Swetha made the pivotal decision to unite their efforts. They weren’t just roommates anymore; they were becoming founding members of an organization dedicated to a cause much bigger than themselves.

In January 2023

After seeking guidance from esteemed professors at Texas A&M University, Ramya and Swetha officially established Healing Circle as a student organization. Their journey from roommates to Co-Founders exemplifies how personal connections can evolve into powerful collaborations when united by a common purpose.

From its Inception

Healing Circle has been propelled by the foundational belief that the integration of mindfulness practices, creative arts, nature immersion, and community support could serve as powerful tools for empowering holistic well-being. Ramya and Swetha dedicated themselves tirelessly to piloting innovative ideas, conducting workshops, and continuously refining their approach based on participants feedback.

Unwavering Commitment

Through their unwavering commitment and collaborative efforts, they have steadily nurtured Healing Circle into what it is today—a beacon of hope and a sanctuary for nurturing the mind, body, and soul. Their story is a powerful reminder that sometimes, the most impactful journeys begin in the most unexpected places and that when individuals connect to a bigger cause, they can create ripples of positive change that extend far beyond their immediate surroundings.
